Jon Gruden
Former Head Coach
UPDATE: On October 11, 2021, Jon Gruden handed in his resignation to Mark Davis and Mark Davis accepted it. During an NFL internal investigation of the Washington Redskins, some of their emails examined were from Jon Gruden sent between 2011 – 2018.
After being published in the NY Times in October, Coach Gruden resigned. In the emails, some statements were definitely not nice or politically correct. However, since they were discovered in July of 2021, we wonder why it took until the Raiders had a 3-0 record to start talking about them…
Head Coach Jon Gruden is a legend. He returned as head coach with the Raiders in 2018, having previously coached the team from 1998-2001. He is a big part of the Raiders’ commitment to excellence. The drive he has and his will to win are unmatched. He’s also known to be an offense specialist. It makes sense when you see his track record – the offense is really the key to winning.
When he was hired by the Raiders’ owner Al Davis in 1998, Jon was the youngest head coach in the NFL at the age of 34. This trust in such a young talent did not disappoint Al Davis.
Jon’s teams have claimed five division championships and have recorded six seasons with nine or more wins. The Raiders ranked among the NFL’s elite under Gruden’s leadership. The Silver and Black advanced to the AFC Championship game for the first time since 1990.
Jon Gruden Gives To The Community
Even though Jon was a focused and driven coach in his earlier years, he did not forget to give back to his community. Coach Jon Gruden and his wife, Cindy Gruden have hosted youth groups at games and camps. They have also worked on fundraising and awareness campaigns for the American Red Cross, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Did You Know?
The Better Half – Cindy Gruden
Mr. and Mrs. Gruden are definitely a power couple. Similar to Jon’s passion for football, Cindy has her own passion when it comes to sports and cheerleading. In college, she studied Classical Piano and Music Education plus Educational Administration at the University of Tennessee. That was where she met Jon.
Having been a cheerleader throughout college, after graduating she worked as an instructor for the National Cheerleader Association and various educational institutions. Cindy became a successful businesswoman having gotten into the fitness and aerobics industry. This is where she earned her own fortune.
Jon Gruden And Family
Married in 1991, Jon and Cindy started a football team but stopped with three sons. Sons Deuce, Michael, and Jayson are grown and thriving. Just like his father, Deuce started a coaching career. After interning with the Washington Redskins, he landed a permanent position. However, we are glad that he has since joined the Raiders organization.
The family gives back to the communities they live in. The Grudens support many causes. Known for working closely with many cancer charities but others as well. Moving to Las Vegas in March of 2020, the family happily made Las Vegas home. Despite being fined for not wearing a mask during Week Two’s game Jon feels strongly about Covid safety.
Since contracting COVID-19, Jon has done everything he could to practice health safety with the team. Despite being fined $350,000 (later waived by the NFL) for not wearing a mask during week 2 of the 2020 season, he knows how serious protocols are for the team and the league.
We are happy to have the Gruden family here in Las Vegas and look forward to the time when they will be seen around town.
The Gruden’s Las Vegas New Home
With the move of the operations of the Raiders from Oakland to Las Vegas, the players, coaches, and their families came flocking into Las Vegas too.
The Gruden family has chosen to settle on the hill in the master-planned community of Southern Highlands overlooking Allegiant Stadium. Finally, finishing their beautiful new home during the summer of 2021, they are now neighbors with Mr. and Mrs. Derek Carr and his family. We look forward to seeing the Gruden family in the Las Vegas community.
Jon Gruden spent 8 seasons on Monday Night Football. In 2017, the Raiders wanted Jon back to mastermind the rebuild plan. He signed a 10 year $100 million contract in 2018.
Las Vegas businesses are extremely happy with the Raiders coming to town. The picture on the left shows the Mustang given to Coach Gruden after moving to Vegas from Ford. It’s a one of a kind custom ride for a one-of-a-kind guy. We’ll be looking for your car as it blows by our cars like they’re standing still.
