Sandra Douglass Morgan
Raiders President
Sandra Douglass Morgan
It was a historic day when Sandra Douglass Morgan was announced as the Las Vegas Raiders’ new president. It made national news. It wasn’t an ordinary announcement after all – and not just for Raiders fans.
That day – history was made as Sandra Douglass Morgan became the first black woman to head an NFL organization. She’s also the third African American person to lead an NFL team.
Sandra was born on 10 April 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She grew up in Vegas and went to Eldorado High School. While attending the University of Nevada, Reno, she majored in Political Science and Communications.
Sandra then pursued a law degree at UNLV. She graduated in 2003 from William S. Boyd School of Law in Las Vegas.
Sandra Joins Top Law Firm
After three years in a prestigious Las Vegas law firm, Sandra became a litigation attorney for MGM Resorts International. When Sandra was appointed City of North Las Vegas in 2008, she broke race and gender barriers until 2016. She would later rejoin the private sector as a director of External Affairs of AT&T.
Sandra became a commissioner for the Nevada Gaming Commission (May 2018 to January 2019), moving to Chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (January 2019 to November 2020). Take note that she’s also the first African American to head this board.
After working as the NLV City Attorney and Chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, she was becoming well known for her unique knowledge. Multiple organizations wanted her on their Board of Directors. These included Caesars Entertainment, Covington & Burling LLP, Cerberus Sentinel, Fidelity National Financial, and Allegiant.
When Mark Davis was asking around for suggestions for a new President of the Raiders, multiple people said, “How about Sandra?” And the rest is history! Her job as President of the Raiders is another opportunity for her to cross the gender and race barriers society sets.
With her stellar background and accomplishments, we are excited to see what this trailblazer has in store for the Raiders!
