Born in Flowood, Mississippi, in 1996, Minshew played college football at East Carolina before transferring to Washington State under head coach Mike Leach. There, he became an instant sensation, setting school records and leading the Cougars to a historic season in 2018. His air-raid offense and leadership qualities made him a standout and helped him get noticed by NFL scouts.
Minshew was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He quickly became a fan favorite with his mustache, swagger, and fearless playstyle. Dubbed “Minshew Mania,” his rookie season was filled with highlight plays and unexpected success as he stepped in as the starter. After his time in Jacksonville, he played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts, continuing to prove his ability as a capable NFL quarterback.
Now with the Raiders, Minshew has another opportunity to showcase his talent and prove he belongs as a key contributor in Las Vegas.

His father, Flint Minshew, played as a defensive end at Millsaps College in Mississippi during the early 1990s. He recorded 289 career total tackles, ranking fifth all-time at the college, and was inducted into the Millsaps College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
Gardner’s mother, Kim Minshew, showcased her athletic talents as a basketball player at Mississippi State University.
