Ameer Abdullah Las Vegas Raiders #6 has carved out a role as a dependable and dynamic playmaker in the NFL. Now with the Las Vegas Raiders, Abdullah brings experience, versatility, and a veteran presence to the backfield. Originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Abdullah has had an NFL journey that has taken him across multiple teams, including stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers before landing in Las Vegas.

Abdullah’s football career began at the University of Nebraska, where he became one of the most electric running backs in college football. Over his four-year career with the Cornhuskers, he rushed for over 4,500 yards and scored 39 total touchdowns. His ability to contribute as a rusher, receiver, and return specialist made him one of the top running back prospects in the 2015 NFL Draft.

His success at Nebraska led to high expectations when the Detroit Lions selected him with the 54th overall pick. Abdullah showed flashes of brilliance early in his career, but injuries and inconsistent usage limited his impact. After four seasons in Detroit, he went on to play for the Vikings and Panthers, where he found success as a rotational back and special teams contributor.

JOINING THE RAIDERS
Abdullah signed with the Raiders in 2022, adding depth to their backfield and serving as a reliable third-down back. His ability to catch passes out of the backfield and contribute on kick returns made him an instant asset. While not a featured runner, he has become a trusted veteran presence, providing leadership to younger backs and stepping up when needed.

With his role primarily in passing situations and special teams, Abdullah remains a valuable piece of the Raiders’ offensive puzzle. His experience and football IQ allow him to be effective in key moments, whether as a receiver or a blocker in pass protection.

Born to Aisha and Kareem Abdullah in Homewood, Alabama, Ameer was born into a practicing Muslim family. Still spiritual, Ameer follow the tradition of praying 5 times a day and fasting even while playing. He believes fasting contributes to his mental strength.

His family says he studied all positions and plays as a kid and tried playing most positions. His passion for football is lifelong and it shows!
