Undoubtedly it would be an honor for ANY player to score the first touchdown for the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. Imagine scoring first in their brand new city and their brand new $1.9 billion dollar stadium. Additionally, no one expected a fullback to achieve such an amazing historical moment.

Alec Ingold Released By The Raiders In 2022

NOTE: Despite being an Allegiant Stadium trivia answer and a fan favorite, Alec Ingold was released by the Raiders on March 16, 2022. Throughout Alec’s 3 seasons with the Raiders, he scored 3 touchdowns and was a valuable “Go To” player. Unfortunately, during week 10 of the 2021 season, he was injured. In the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, he tore his anterior cruciate ligament.

Signing with the Miami Dolphins in 2022, Alec became the 2nd highest-paid fullback in the NFL. Alec Ingold signed a 2-year, $6,500,000 contract with the Dolphins, which included a $1,500,000 signing bonus. He received a $3,500,000 guarantee and an average annual salary of $3,250,000.

Alec The Fullback

Due to the scarcity of Fullbacks, it is rare for a fullback to score during any game. A Fullbacks’ job is mainly to punch holes in the defense so a running back can gain more yards. However, besides being a blocker, a fullback is someone who’s versatile, can run, carry, and catch the ball.

A modern NFL philosophy is to concentrate on blockers as blockers and running backs as runners. Most NFL teams have eliminated the Fullback position, altogether. Thankfully, the Raiders have Alec Ingold who continues to impress us week after week.

To show you how rare a true Fullback is in the NFL, Fullbacks do not get drafted. Also, it’s been over 30 years since there was a fullback inducted into the Hall of Fame. As you might have guessed, that Fullback was Larry Csonka of Miami Dolphin’s fame in the 1970s.

The Raiders had their eye on Alec Ingold during the 2019 draft and were grateful that they could sign him after. With Alec going on to play in every game of the 2019 season for the Raiders, Alec definitely proved his worth. In Week 10 that year in a game against the Los Angeles Chargers, he scored his first NFL touchdown.

Alec Ingold Growing Up

Ingold was a stand-out football star in high school. On his High School Varsity team, Alec was a huge contributor playing both quarterback and linebacker. In his senior year, he was named the Associated Press Wisconsin Player of Year. Shortly after that he also was named the Gatorade Player of the Year. These are both very prestigious awards that any player would cherish.

After being offered a quarterback scholarship by Northern Illinois University, Alec chose to play for Wisconsin as an undecided athlete. With the Badgers, Ingold played multiple positions from linebacker to running back to fullback. Despite getting selected to the 2019 Senior Bowl and being the only true fullback in the 2019 NFL Draft he did not get drafted.

They All Fly

Alec Ingold can fly! During Week 3 of the 2020 season, Alec surprised and amazed audiences by flying over a NE Patriot player. It was fabulous. Instead of hitting the brick wall body, he went right over his head gaining the first down. Glad to have Alec Ingold and his versatility on the Raiders.
